Museum 't Behouden Huys is the museum of the culture and history of Terschelling.
Just like Terschelling, Museum Be t Huys is unique, quirky and surprisingly versatile! Step into the islander farming life or come and listen and watch the islander fairy tales and legends of Terschelling. In the hut of Willem Barentsz you can experience for yourself how this explorer lived or survived on wintry Nova Zembla. And did you know that almost all the houses of West Terschelling were destroyed by the English Fleet in 1666 and the smoke was visible far into Friesland? Pastor Grevensteijn tells you everything about it. New this summer is the free audio tour full of fascinating stories. This is not only available in Dutch but there is also a version in the three Terschellinger dialects. All our stories can be heard in German and English for our foreign visitors. Come and discover it for yourself!
