The famous cargo ship West Aleta died 100 years ago, on February 12, 1920 on its first voyage.
The load consisted of 35,000 barrels of liquor.
That of course caused a jute fever on Terschelling and the island was loaded with wine, port and whiskey.
Male choir West Aleta Singers owes its name to this mega-jutter dream and brings a very special performance
to commemorate this 'disaster'.
Friday January 31, 2020, starting at 7 p.m. at De Tonnenloods.
Ticket sales through the bookshops, West Aleta Kringloop and restaurant Zonneweelde.
